The story of ECOtanka

A family in New Zealand called the Broderick’s were concerned about the amount of plastic water bottles they were throwing out every week and while they were being recycled they thought there had to be a better way of dealing with this. There were also the health questions of keeping liquids in plastic for long periods and what side effects they may have.  They needed a safe, recyclable, long lasting and reusable drink bottle that could be used at work, school, sports and travel and the answer was stainless steel! 

But which one? There are so many stainless steel bottles available in the market place and how do you choose, how do you know what the quality is, what is the working conditions in which they are produced?  They couldn’t get the answers to these but discovered that they were all made in China. 

So Aaron Broderick went to China, travelled many miles, visited many factories and decided the only way forward was to work with a Chinese factory in getting the standard of bottle he wanted, produced to the highest of standards with the quality independently checked by SGS International in Hong Kong.  Aaron is now living and working in China and has established an ECOtanka distribution warehouse with its own quality control section to ensure that the product we get is of the highest quality with all products having a one year guarantee. 

What’s the difference between ECOtanka and your ‘average stainless steel bottle’ ?

  ECOtankas are made from 18/8 food grade stainless steel so they are a clean and hygienic bottle which will not taint the contents in any way.  So many bottles are made of plastics or have liners that break down and contaminate their contents.  This can have health implications and taint the taste of the drinks.  ECOtanka are designed to offer a product that can be used with confidence by anyone without fear of contamination.  

  ECOtankas are designed as both a health product and to be kind to the environment.  So many other bottles look great to start with but do not stand the test of time and within 6 months, they are in landfill as they are made of inferior or thinner grade stainless steel which can rust or buckle.  ECOtanka are made to be robust and resilient, yet being a steel product can easily be recycled if needed.  We are confident that ECOtanka is the best product of its kind available in the UK and Ireland.  We are passionate about reducing waste, which is why we offer a bottle designed to last a lifetime.  ECOtanka International Limited is constantly seeking innovative ways to make their bottles even better.  Thus the sipper or cap part of the new Sports lid can be replaced if it gets chewed or broken without the need to replace the entire lid.                                                                                                        

  ECOtanka have developed a New Sports Lid that doesn’t leak and has generated great excitement as a solution that actually works. 

Both the bottles and lids are verified by SGS Group International in Hong Kong to ensure the quality meets the standards of the FDA in the USA, New Zealand, Australia and the EU authorities. 

    There is an expanding range of neoprene colours for every size of tanka along with a range of lids that are interchangeable (with the exception of the Mega tanka).
