 We are a small ethical
UK company and we were concerned about the potential damage to our family’s health and the devastation to the environment that using plastic water bottles was causing.
We had a simple vision – to Make a Difference To do so by responsibly sourcing an alternative that is manufactured ethically, that is safe, long lasting and works.
What we wanted was a bottle that we could trust. We didn’t want to worry about our bottle sitting in the sun and potentially leaching noxious chemicals. We wanted to know that the quality of the water that came out of the bottle was the same as we put in. We started shopping around for some alternatives and concluded that Stainless Steel bottles were the ultimate solution as they are free from BPA , eco-friendly, easy to clean and hard wearing. We tried to find an ethically minded supplier of stainless steel bottles in the UK and then
Europe . We were shocked to learn that the only country now producing stainless steel bottles is
China . No matter what make of bottle you find, they are all produced in
China . This is the world we live in today where competition and manufacturing costs means we as a consumer want the cheapest product we can find.
The ECOtanka is designed and marketed from New Zealand and in ECOtanka International Limited, we found a family run business who cared about the environment and who take the extra step to ensure they do things right. They have taken it upon themselves to visit the factory in
China every six months over the last few years, ensuring health and safety standards are to international standards and that the employees are treated and paid fairly.
ECOtanka products are not the cheapest on the market and we are proud of that. There is a premium to be paid for a quality product, ethically produced and which we can be proud to market and promote. They are eco-friendly and highly economical over the long term as they are made to last giving many years of service.
Remember if you buy something really cheap then somebody is paying for it along the way; the materials may be inferior, working conditions deplorable, salaries extremely low. We are also delighted to say we are not the dearest either as we are endeavouring to promote the use a safe high quality alternative to plastic that are good for both us and the environment.
We have decided to provide as much information as we can find in order to help educate customers about the dangers of reusing plastic water bottles and share the information we have found on aluminium bottles .
